11/11/2009 Veteran's Day

Gratitude to my grandfather Wendell Hall, father in law Charles Wesley Hallett V, and all veterans and active duty troops for their service. Thank you for making me free.

Wesley went outside this morning and then came running back in saying "Did you know today is a holiday?" He knew it was a holiday because there was a flag in our front yard. (Our local boy scout troop puts the flags up on holidays for a fundraiser.) Of course he didn't know which holiday it is but I was able to explain to him and Eva and then we said our pledge of allegiance outside facing it.

Then we attended a Veterans Day parade. It was the first parade Eva and Wesley have been to. We saw vets riding in awesome, decked out cars... military members driving tanks and hummers...many boy and girl scout troops...lots of vets on loud motorcycles... and did I mention I LOVE marching bands?

And here is a link for my grandpa's Reminiscences of World War II. A great read for today - or any day.
