11/14/2009 Weekly Homeschool Review

This week we started reading a biography of Benjamin Franklin by Ingri D'Aulaire. It is a fun read and the kids enjoyed reading about Benjamin getting soundly spanked when he was dishonest. They could probably relate.

Wesley learned all the short vowel sounds this week. He is getting better at remembering, as long as we review every day.

Here is Eva's narration for the Aesop fable "The Plane Tree:"
"Two travelers were walking and they found a tree and so they lay under it. The leaves looked like a plane. One traveler thought it was useless because it bore no fruit. Then the tree said, I don't have fruit but I do make shade."

In our science co-op Eva learned about the phases of the moon. She got a calendar and had to color a moon for each day to show what the moon looked like.

We are almost done reading "Farmer Boy" together and will start "The Secret Garden" next week.
