12/6/2009 Week in Review

After Thanksgiving last week I informed the kids that we would be taking the month of December off from homeschooling. This month we'll be too busy packing, moving, and doing Christmas. We did have 2 field trips this week though. Wednesday we took the lightrail to downtown Phoenix to see the Phoenix Symphony Orchestra perform their annual Christmas concert for schoolchildren. It was great! We heard selections from the Nutcracker, the Polar Express, and a singalong of Christmas favorites. Then Friday we went to the Arizona Mining and Minerals museum with our science co-op. Here are some pictures:

I had a great birthday Friday! Highlights of the day included Eva and Wes singing happy birthday to me, Cody making me a homemade blackberry pie, talking to my brother Arthur who called to wish me a happy birthday, and going on a date with my husband to see New Moon.

In other news, we had to get our car fixed and that put us back several hundred bucks. So this month we're limiting our weekly grocery budget to $20 and eating from our food storage to make up for that unexpected cost. We'll see how it goes. Luckily, I already have a turkey for Christmas dinner. This week my good deals were .58 Skippy peanut butter and 1 lb. butter for .99 at Basha's
.23 Yoplait yogurt at Safeway
5 lb. flour for $1 at Fry's
